Acketon

Acketon
Quilted garment worn under armour (see gambeson, below) to absorb shock and impact. The term originated with Crusaders and is said to derive from the word "cotton."
♦ Shirt-like garment of buckram stuffed with cotton, worn as padding under the hauberk.
